4 Days Mount Meru Trekking
The 4-day Mount Meru Trekking hike to the peak is completed in three days. Situated at the heart of Arusha National Park, Mount Meru overlooks the spectacular savannah plains. Meru was shaped thousands of years ago by volcanic activity. The fertile slopes are home to diverse wildlife. The climb to the summit alongside the volcanic caldera is challenging but suitable for anyone in relatively good shape. Steep slopes, diverse wildlife, and breathtaking views make this trek ideal for adventurous thrill seekers.
Day 0 – Kilimanjaro Airport to Arusha
Driver arranged from airport to your hotel. Orientation at Silver Palm Hotel. Guides inspect gear and clarify any questions.
Overnight: Silver Palm Hotel
Day 1 – Arusha to Miriakamba Hut
Breakfast and departure to Momella Gate for registration. Climb through open grasslands, spotting giraffes and buffalo, continue through alpine forest to waterfalls for picnic lunch. Ascend to Miriakamba Hut for dinner and overnight.
Overnight: Miriakamba Hut
Day 2 – Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut
Breakfast and continue climbing through rainforest and cloud forest. Pass Mgongo wa Tembo (Elephant Back), transition to heather and moorland to reach Saddle Hut. Long rest, ascend to Little Meru for acclimatization, then return to Saddle Hut for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 – Saddle Hut to Momella Gate
Early start after snacks. Climb to summit via bushland trail to Rhino Point, volcanic ash, and crater rim to Socialist Peak. Enjoy views of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru Ash Cone. Descend to Saddle Hut for break, then continue to Miriakamba Hut for dinner and overnight.
Overnight: Miriakamba Hut
Day 4 – Arusha via Momella Gate
Breakfast and descend via northern route to Momella Gate, spotting elephants, buffalo, giraffes, and colobus monkeys. After signing out, drive to Arusha Tourist Inn.
